In a time where cancer service line leaders are being asked to do more with less, artificial intelligence is no longer just a buzzword—it’s a powerful, practical tool for transforming oncology care. That was the focus of a recent ACE webinar hosted in partnership with ECG Management Consultants and Azra AI, bringing together experts to share real-world strategies for AI enablement in cancer care.

We’re incredibly grateful to Amber Campbell, President of the Association of Cancer Executives (ACE) and CEO of Ambulatory Division at Sutter Health, for moderating and facilitating this important discussion, and to our esteemed panelists—Mimi Taylor of ECG Management Consultants, Brook Blackmore, Chief Strategy & Product Officer at Azra AI,  and AI Governance expert Joe Siryani, Ph.D.—for offering their insight and expertise.

Practical AI for Today’s Cancer Executives

This webinar was focused on action. The panel unpacked how oncology executives can find their first “no regrets” AI wins, from streamlining chart review and reducing missed follow-ups to automating tumor board prep and surfacing incidental findings in real-time.

Key themes included:

Start Small, Think Big: AI pilots in patient navigation and follow-up tracking can yield immediate results, like a 42% reduction in missed follow-ups in just six months.

Governance is Non-Negotiable: Transparent, responsible, and ethical AI implementation was emphasized as essential. Azra AI’s robust governance framework ensures clinical safety, privacy, and performance tracking.

Culture and Curiosity Matter: The panel urged health systems to foster a culture of curiosity, not fear. AI is a partner, not a replacement, and the key to unlocking valuable time and resources.

Hard and Soft ROI: The panel discussed how to balance financial returns with time savings, staff retention, and improved patient experience.

Real-World Impact

From automating cancer registry data abstraction to reducing leakage and improving care coordination, our panelists shared compelling success stories and cautionary lessons. Whether navigating the complexities of data, talent readiness, or stakeholder alignment, the message was clear: AI can—and should—be implemented thoughtfully, with a focus on real patient and clinician benefit.

Thank You to Our Partners

Immense thanks to Amber Campbell and ACE for the opportunity to facilitate this important webinar, and to Mimi Taylor of ECG for her thoughtful contributions and guidance. Collaborations like this are vital to advancing the cancer care ecosystem, and we’re proud to be part of it.
